Venezuela in the 2000s

Postcards from Ian & Justine

Former Globe Trekker hosts Ian Wright & Justine Shapiro revisit Venezuela, one of South America's most breathtaking and misunderstood destinations. In this POSTCARD, Ian recalls his journey through the country in 2000, travelling from the peaks of the Andes mountains to the watery plains of Los Llanos, riding alongside local cowboys and casting a line for piranha. This is travel at its most raw and exhilarating.

Along the way, Ian navigates the hectic traffic of the vibrant capital Caracas, escapes to a Caribbean island where fresh lobster is a way of life and even finds a moment to have a chat with Miss Venezuela. Oh, and did we mention the 7-foot anaconda lurking in a swamp?

Ian's journey culminates at the magnificent Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall. Throughout it all, he immerses himself, and us, in Venezuela's astounding beauty and the company of the wonderful people who call it home.
